The Liberation of the Insurance Agent

Insurtech gives independent agents more ways to provide customers with their unique expertise

Independent insurance agencies have sometimes had a love-hate relationship with technology. Over the years, they’ve been worried about everything from competition from direct writers to the mobile apps where customers can compare and bind coverage, believing they threaten to squeeze them out of the three-way insurance equations of carrier, customer and agent.

And it’s true that technology is eliminating many of the more mundane tasks associated with being an agent. Quoting, binding and the steps of the claims process have all been improved and expedited, leaving less back-office work for agencies to do.

But for smart agencies, therein lies liberation.
