(April 27, 2015) – Insurance industry coalition ID Federation — creator of the SignOn Once standard for streamlined and secure access to systems of multiple business partners — named Alicia Rawnsley, ARM, CCMP, as business chair for the organization.
Rawnsley serves as director, special projects for Liberty Mutual Insurance in the commercial insurance distribution strategy and operations organization.
SignOn Once, launched in April 2014, is a standard using token technology to authenticate each user’s identity among multiple insurance systems. SignOn Once offers greater security protection and ease of use than the longstanding process of using a different password to enter each carrier system. This token is certified for authenticity and is used to facilitate that user’s ongoing access to participating and certified SignOn Once carrier or solution provider websites. ID Federation is seeking insurance carriers to implement SignOn Once and certify their implementations so agent business partners can increase security and efficiency.
The business chair of ID Federation is a volunteer position responsible for:
— Promoting and educating stakeholders and new members about SignOn Once.
— Developing business practices to support the organization in membership, marketing, contract and forms administration, and reporting.
— Supporting the technical and legal committees of ID Federation.
In her role with Liberty Mutual, Rawnsley manages strategic and tactical projects and partners with commercial insurance departments to deliver distribution tools, resources and communications.
Rawnsley replaces Teresa Addy, business technology analyst at EMC Insurance Companies, who served as business chair from 2013-2014 and had a driving role in publishing the ID Federation framework, creating the SignOn Once brand, and promoting SignOn Once.
Insurance carriers and solution providers can participate in SignOn Once to streamline access to their online tools for distribution business partners. Key steps are:
2) Completing certification as a SignOn Once carrier or solution provider.
3) Implementing SignOn Once.
About ID Federation: ID Federation Inc., formed in in December 2011, is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization. The organization’s mission is promoting information security and identity management for trusted transactions across the financial services and insurance industries for purposes including reducing transaction friction, lowering cost and bolstering independent agent access.
ID Federation created SignOn Once as a standard for a secure identity system based on each user’s distinct credentials. SignOn Once grew out of collaboration by insurance professionals within the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America’s ACT (Agents Council for Technology), the Real Time/Download Campaign, ACORD, technology user groups and other communities. These professionals aimed to create a safe and standard way to secure technology authentication for as many parties as possible in the insurance industry.
